HELENA, Mont. — Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen announced today that all passengers departing the Helena Regional Airport on Independence Day will receive a copy of the Declaration of Independence as they board their flights.
“It’s my honor to provide a copy of our Constitution and the Declaration of Independence to the passengers departing our Capital City,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “These documents are the foundation of our rights and responsibilities as United States citizens, and there’s no better day to highlight their importance than on our nation’s 250th birthday.”
The Independence Day distribution is part of Secretary Jacobsen’s ongoing commitment to strengthening civic education. This year alone, she has delivered thousands of Constitutions and Declarations of Independence across Montana, fulfilling requests from teachers, volunteer groups, local organizations, and community members statewide.
“It’s clear that there’s a demand for access to these historical documents,” Secretary Jacobsen said. “If I can get a Constitution into the hands of a curious student or a passionate community member, I’m going to make that happen.”
Since taking office in 2021, Secretary Jacobsen has continued to make these founding documents accessible to Montanans. This year’s Constitution booklets feature a patriotic design commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
