HELENA, Mont. — Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen was honored to usher in this year’s Montana American Legion Boys State and American Legion Auxiliary Girls State at the Montana State Capitol. Secretary Jacobsen provided welcoming remarks and touched on the roles and responsibilities of the Secretary of State’s Office.
“Thank you all for being here and participating in this significant event. Your presence signifies your commitment to civic engagement and leadership,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “Remember, you are not just participants; you are the future legislators, governors, secretaries of state, business owners, teachers, and so much more. Your potential is limitless!”
Secretary Jacobsen shared her personal journey, detailing her background and path to elected office. She also urged the attendees to take advantage of the learning opportunities presented during the event.
“Soak up all the valuable information being shared. Each session is a step toward becoming knowledgeable and engaged citizens,” she said. “This is also a fantastic opportunity to connect with your peers. Make friends, network, and exchange ideas—these relationships can last a lifetime and enhance your future endeavors.”

During the week, participants of the Montana American Legion Boys State and the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State gained insights into local, county, and state government functions by conducting their own elections, meetings, legislative sessions, and court proceedings, among other activities.
