NYE, Mont. — Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen expressed her gratitude to officials and workers with the Stillwater Mine following a recent tour of the facilities in Stillwater County.
Secretary Jacobsen was given an extensive tour of the facility, gaining valuable insights into the underground mining operation near the Beartooth Mountains. Workers touted the mine’s production of palladium and platinum and described the materials’ vital impact on several industries.
“I was honored to receive a firsthand view of the levels of commitment and expertise that goes into every aspect of operations at the Stillwater Mine,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “Each member of the Stillwater team is dedicated to the company’s goal of implementing innovative practices that result in a safe and responsible workplace.”
Secretary Jacobsen visited with workers and learned about the day-to-day operations of the mine. The Secretary was also taken underground into the mine, where she had the opportunity to witness the impressive new equipment in action firsthand.
“Montana has a rich heritage of mining and natural resource development,” Secretary Jacobsen said. “We must continue to support these industries, especially the workers and their families, as we make America energy dominant and independent.”
“Thank you to the dedicated and hardworking team at the Stillwater Mine for the warm hospitality during my visit,” Secretary Jacobsen added. “It was great to see a commitment to safety and responsibility, and your work remains vital for our economy and our communities.”
