HELENA, Mont. — Montana’s business-friendly climate results in historic new businesses starting in October.  Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen announced that over 6,000 new businesses have registered this past month alone.

Montana continues to attract a robust entrepreneurial spirit and ongoing record-breaking momentum throughout 2025. The reason for Montana’s record business growth is attributed to Secretary Jacobsen cutting and eliminating fees for each year she has been in office.

“I want to welcome the 6,000 new businesses in our state! We are here to serve you,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “Each new business contributes to our economy and represents opportunity, jobs, and a stronger Montana.”

With over 51,000 registrations recorded by mid-year and these recent months reinforcing an accelerating pace, Montana is well-positioned to surpass the record of nearly 64,000 new business filings set in 2024, maintaining its status as a leading state for business growth.
