HELENA, Mont. — Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen recently visited The Revival: Spin and Barre, LLC, a growing small business in Helena known for its energetic classes, welcoming atmosphere, and supportive community.
The Revival offers spin and barre classes for all fitness levels, each paired with a staff-curated music playlist that motivates participants and sets the tone for a high-energy workout.
Co-owners Julia Scalley and Jess Johnston opened the studio after recognizing the need for a more connected fitness community in the capital city.
“It’s really hard for young people in Helena to find community,” said Scalley, who teaches barre. “The best place to find friends is working out together.”
The studio recently celebrated its first anniversary. In the lobby, its expanding Milestone Wall displays dozens of member photos marking achievements from 25 to 300 completed classes—a testament to the studio’s growth and member dedication.
The studio’s coaching staff plays a key role in shaping its welcoming culture, offering constant encouragement through headset microphones during classes. Every detail of the space is designed to uplift—from the workout floor to the bathroom mirrors, where notes of positivity line the mirror and walls. That intentional environment has helped cultivate a close-knit community of nearly 100 members.
“It’s so cool,” added Johnston, who has a background in teaching spin classes. “People come in for their first class as strangers, and then in a few weeks, you see them chatting, connecting, and building real conversations with each other.”
The Revival offers a variety of membership options, from single drop-in classes to 12‑month unlimited plans.
“The Revival is a great example of a business created to fill a need in the community,” Secretary Jacobsen said. “They’re supporting our economy, improving the health and well-being of its members, and building a stronger sense of community in Helena. That’s a success story to me.”
