HELENA, Mont. — Absentee ballots for Montana’s June 2nd Primary Election are en route to mailboxes across the state. Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen said that county election offices across the state are mailing absentee ballot packets to active, registered absentee voters. Montanans registered to vote absentee can expect their ballots to arrive in the coming days.

“Montana’s 2026 Primary Election is well underway, and the Montana Election Team is honored to serve our voters,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “As a reminder, Montanans can view their sample ballot, track their absentee ballot, confirm their voter registration information, and much more at VoteMT.gov.”

Secretary Jacobsen said that more than 500,000 absentee ballot packets are being issued by county election offices across the state. Montana’s 2026 Primary Election Absentee Ballot Count by County report is available on the Secretary of State’s website at https://sosmt.gov/elections/absentee-ballot-count/. The report will be updated by county election officials as Montanans return their voted ballots. Ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, June 2nd.

The Montana Election Team reminds absentee voters to sign, date, and add their birth year when returning their absentee ballot. County election officials provide instructions in the ballot packet, and more information is also available online at https://votemt.gov/absentee-ballot/.

Secretary Jacobsen previously issued a press release highlighting Montana’s late registration procedures, including that county election offices will be open on Saturday, May 30th, for eligible Montanans to register, update their registration information, and vote.

Secretary Jacobsen and the Montana Election Team remind eligible Montanans that they can visit https://voterportal.mt.gov/ to confirm their voter registration information is accurate and up to date. For additional voter resources, Montanans may visit https://votemt.gov/.
