About the Elections and Voter Services Division
The Secretary of State’s elections and voter services division is responsible for interpreting state election laws under Title 13 and ensuring that they are implemented by county election officials uniformly throughout the state. Other responsibilities include:
- Certify candidate names for the ballot
- Certify initiatives and referendums for the ballot
- Certify the language and form of the ballot
- Publish the official state voter information pamphlet
- Conduct the official canvass of election results
- Give assistance to and train local election officials
- Provide support to county election offices for the statewide election management system
- Prescribe and publish election forms and manuals
- Provide Election Judge Training materials
- Administer requirements of the Help America Vote Act; the National Voter Registration Act, and the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act
- Certify voting systems for use in state
