HELENA, Mont. — This week, leaders with the Montana Petroleum Association (MPA) joined Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen at the Montana State Capitol to celebrate MPA’s priority legislation from the 2025 Montana Legislative Session. Secretary Jacobsen held a ceremonial filing of the organization’s key objectives into law.

“What could be better than beautiful Montana energy powering America? Congratulations to the Montana Petroleum Association and our wonderful oil and gas producers,” said Secretary Jacobsen.

In addition to the Montana Petroleum Association’s primary objectives, the state of Montana has also been innovative in the oil and gas industry. Throughout the calendar year, Secretary Jacobsen and her all-Republican colleagues on the Montana Land Board approve quarterly oil and gas lease sales, which have gained increased interest and generated higher revenue following the modernization of lease sales held online. The Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) utilizes the online platform EnergyNet, and the past three oil and gas lease sales have generated an estimated revenue of nearly $13 million, benefiting students across Montana.

“This is just a start; a lot more can get done, and I’ll fight for our cutting-edge producers every step of the way,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “Let’s drill, baby, drill.”
