Office of the Secretary of State highlights Montanans for Women’s History Month

HELENA, Mont. — Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen and the Office of the Secretary of State are honoring Women’s History Month with a video series highlighting women that made a significant impact on the Treasure State.

The series will focus on the first female Legislators in Montana’s history, including Jeannette Rankin, Emma Ingalls and Maggie Smith Hathaway. Rankin was the first woman elected to the United States Congress, while Ingalls and Hathaway were the first women to serve in the Montana House of Representatives.

Montana author and historian Ellen Baumler will provide narration for the video series, which includes a partnership with the Montana Historical Society.
