Secretary Christi Jacobsen announces August’s new business registrations
HELENA, Mont. — Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen announced that nearly 5,300 new businesses were registered with the state in August 2023. That’s according to data unveiled in the Montana Business Economic Report.
According to the Economic Report, each month in 2023 has seen higher business growth than the same timespan last year. Montana had record business growth in 2022, with nearly 54,000 new businesses registering with the state.
Almost 41,000 new business registrations have been documented in Montana through August.
“Our goals at the Secretary of State’s Office remain making it easier to do business in Montana, while providing excellent customer service to our thousands of businesses across the state,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “We have provided businesses with 24/7 access to their documents and information, we cut registration fees in half, we’re waiving the 2024 Annual Report filing fee, and we’re proud to assist Montana businesses on their journey.”
Since taking office in 2021, Secretary Jacobsen has cut registration fees in half for Montana businesses, while several other fees were waived entirely. Montana businesses also have 24/7 access to their business filings through the Secretary of State’s website.
As a result of increased efficiencies in the Secretary of State’s Office, as well as reducing red tape, Montana has had record business registration in each of Secretary Jacobsen’s full calendar years in office.
Secretary Jacobsen was recently recognized and honored by the Mountain States Policy Center (MSPC) for her work on behalf of Montana businesses. Secretary Jacobsen was a recipient of the MSPC’s Elevation Award, which is the highest honor of the organization, “given to individual(s) who are committed to advancing and elevating free market principles and ideas. It is presented to a top innovator, business leader, or elected official in Idaho, Montana, and Washington.”
