BUTTE, Mont. — Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen shared her support for the state’s mining industry, workers, and their families while speaking at the 2025 Montana Mining Association annual meeting.
“As your Secretary of State, I’m honored to be part of your team,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “I have been proud to support our state’s mining industry, and your priorities are my priorities: protecting and increasing public access, and generating revenue from our state trust lands by supporting responsible natural resource development.”
“I’m honored to support your theme, ‘Securing America’s Critical Mineral Supply Chain,'” Secretary Jacobsen continued. “From powering the technologies of tomorrow to ensuring the resilience of our national defense systems today, critical minerals are at the heart of America’s economic and strategic future.”
Secretary Jacobsen discussed her role with the Montana Land Board and explained how natural resource production has generated historic revenue for Montana’s schools. She also reflected on her recent visit to the Stillwater Mine.
“I walked away with a deep appreciation, not only for the scale and sophistication of the underground operation, but also for the professionalism, innovation, and safety culture that defines Montana mining today,” she said. “It’s an industry rooted in our past, but focused on the future. I could not be prouder to support it.”
The Montana Mining Association’s annual meeting “brings together mining professionals, regulators, suppliers, and stakeholders,” with attendees from all over Montana. Secretary Jacobsen recognized the critical role the industry plays across the state, country, and beyond.
“Montana has the resources, the talent, and the know-how to be a cornerstone in securing our nation’s critical mineral supply chain,” she said. “Thank you for your commitment to Montana’s and America’s future.”
