HELENA, Mont. — Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen says the organization sending multiple misleading mailings to Montana businesses has agreed to stop. Secretary Jacobsen sent the organization a stern cease and desist letter demanding that the unauthorized mailings relating to “Corporate Meeting Minutes” and “Annual Minutes Statement” be halted immediately.

Legal counsel representing the organization, Corporate Certificates, confirmed with Secretary Jacobsen’s legal team that it has “stopped all mailing per the demand to do so.”

“My message was clear: ‘Stop now or I will sue you,'” said Secretary Jacobsen. “Our Montana businesses are essential to their communities and our state, and I won’t stand for deceptive practices originating from out of state with the intent of harming Main Street across Montana. I’m proud to fight for this victory for Montana businesses.”

Multiple Montana entities contacted the Secretary of State’s Office, concerned about the mailings, and Secretary Jacobsen responded swiftly by notifying the business community and sending the cease-and-desist letter.

“You must not be from around here, because if you were, you would know that my administration has proudly stood as an advocate for Montana businesses, including cutting red tape, eliminating fees, and waiving them altogether,” Secretary Jacobsen wrote.

Secretary Jacobsen is committed to protecting Montana businesses against fraud and deceitful practices. All communications from the Secretary of State’s Office are transparent and legitimate, and they never ask for checks or money orders.
