Secretary Christi Jacobsen shares September’s new business registration update
HELENA, Mont. — Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen announced this week Montana’s new business registration numbers for September 2023. According to the Montana Business Economic Report, nearly 4,400 new businesses were registered with the state during the month of September.
Through September, roughly 45,000 new businesses have registered with the state. Montana had record business growth in 2022 with more than 53,000 new business registrations.
“Businesses begin their journey by registering with the Secretary of State’s Office, and we’re proud to make it easier to do business in Montana,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “Thank you for doing business in Montana.”
Montana businesses have 24/7 access to their registration and business filings, and Secretary Jacobsen cut registration fees in half for Montana businesses. The Secretary also recently announced 2024 Annual Report filing fees will be waived for all Montana businesses.
Earlier this year, the Mountain States Policy Center (MSPC) recognized Secretary Jacobsen and her work to make it easier to do business in Montana, presenting her with the “Elevation Award” which is “given to individual(s) who are committed to advancing and elevating free market principles and ideas. It is presented to a top innovator, business leader, or elected official in Idaho, Montana, and Washington.”
