HELENA, Mont. — Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen is thanking voters and election workers across the Treasure State following Tuesday’s 2026 Primary Election. Polling places opened at 7 a.m., with voters casting ballots for local, state, and federal offices.
With all counties marking their precincts as fully reported, nearly 300,000 Montanans participated in the Primary Election. Fewer than one percent of ballots were rejected, as election officials statewide worked efficiently to assist voters in resolving their ballots. Provisional ballots are scheduled to be counted on Monday afternoon.
“Thank you to every single voter who cast a ballot in this Primary Election,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “From our smallest rural precincts to our largest counties, Montanans once again showed up to make their voices heard and helped shape the future of our great state.”
Secretary Jacobsen also expressed her gratitude to the thousands of election workers, election judges, and local county election officials who helped administer the Primary Election.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the Montana Election Team, the state and local election officials, as well as the poll workers and volunteers who served Montana voters before, during, and now after Election Day,” Secretary Jacobsen said. “Their professionalism and dedication help ensure Montana’s elections remain safe, secure, accessible, and transparent.”
“Thank you to every candidate who stepped forward to represent your community and state,” she continued. “Running for office requires time, sacrifice, and commitment, and I appreciate your willingness to step up and serve.”
