HELENA, Mont. — Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen is thanking voters and election workers across the Treasure State following Tuesday’s 2026 General Election. Polling places began opening at 7 a.m., with voters casting ballots for local, state, and federal offices, as well as various ballot issues.

Secretary Jacobsen was honored to begin Election Day by visiting numerous polling places around the Helena valley, meeting with and thanking election officials, poll workers, and voters. Conversations included the importance of volunteering to serve on the front lines of Election Day, with many poll workers proudly boasting decades of service.

In addition to Lewis and Clark County, Secretary Jacobsen proudly shared Election Day scenes submitted from county election offices across the state, including the opening of polls in places like Fergus and Jefferson counties, with peeks into the process in counties such as Beaverhead, Blaine, Butte-Silver Bow, Gallatin, Lake, Park, Ravalli, Richland, and Stillwater.

“Please join me in thanking the thousands of election workers across the state who greeted voters, confirmed their ID and precinct information, and assisted them with ensuring their ballots were cast and voices were heard,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “I was honored to visit with so many of our election workers to hear stories of service and dedication. Thank you for playing a significant role on the Montana Election Team.”

With all counties marking their precincts as fully reported, more than 486,000 Montanans participated in the General Election. Provisional ballots are scheduled to be counted on Monday afternoon before the post-election audit and canvassing procedures begin.

“Thank you to every Montanan who cast a ballot in this General Election,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “Voting is one of the greatest privileges of American citizenship, and it’s important for our voices to be heard in races from the smallest precincts to our representation in the state legislature and Washington D.C.”

“Congratulations to every candidate who stepped forward in this election, answering the call to serve our communities and state,” Secretary Jacobsen continued. “Your willingness to place your name on the ballot helps strengthen the state and nation we all love.”

Secretary Jacobsen reminds Montanans that results are available on the Secretary of State’s websiteat https://electionresults.mt.gov/ and remain unofficial until canvassed.
