HELENA, Mont. — Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen is reminding Montanans that unofficial results from the November 3, 2026, General Election are available on the Secretary of State’s official election results website at https://electionresults.mt.gov/.

Results are reported by Montana’s county election offices and posted as counties submit them. Petroleum County was the first to report results from all precincts on Election Day, shortly after polls closed at 8 p.m. Wibaux County followed 12 minutes later.

“Montanans deserve fast, easy access to election results, and we’re proud that our election reporting website puts the numbers in the hands of every voter, candidate, and member of the press as soon as they are reported by our counties,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “Reporting timely results is a key factor in our transparent election process, and it’s a credit to the Montana Election Team across all 56 counties and in our State Capitol.”

Secretary Jacobsen thanked county election administrators, clerks and recorders, election judges, and all poll workers for their work in reporting results throughout Election Night.

“Our county election officials and poll workers once again provided excellent service to our voters, from setting up polling places to counting hundreds of thousands of ballots. Soon, they will conduct post-election audit and canvassing procedures to conclude the state’s 2026 General Election,” Secretary Jacobsen said. “I’m grateful for their service and proud of the work of the entire Montana Election Team.”

County election officials will complete the procedures for rejected, provisional, and military ballots before conducting post-election audit procedures. Counties will then canvass their results, including the total vote counts of write-in candidates who filed for office. One write-in candidate filed for the U.S. Senate race, one filed for Montana Senate District 9, and two filed for Montana Senate District 22.

Counties will submit their canvass results to Montana’s State Canvass Board, which is scheduled to meet on November 30. Results remain unofficial until canvassed.
